WELCOME

Are you tired of having short hair? Do you want to add length? Or maybe you want to add thickness/volume to the sides or the back of your hair due to your hair thinning or maybe a color change is what you’re really after. No matter what your reason is, hair extensions can dramatically change the look and feel of your hair without causing any damage.

Hair extensions are a very popular accessory worn by celebrities and the everyday woman. Wearing hair extensions has become as common as putting on jewelry or wearing makeup. Hair extensions are an ultra fashionable way to take your look from school causal to Cinderella chic. Many celebrities get hair extensions for various movie roles. When you see magazine covers with famous actors having long, flowing natural looking long hair, you begin to think that maybe you could get the same look. Once thought as a rich person's service, hair extensions have become much more affordable and even practical for everyday consumers.

Hair extensions are made from synthetic fibers and real human hair. Synthetic hair is less expensive; however extensions made from human hair tend to give a better result, naturally. Hair extensions come in many different types. There are differences in the way hair extensions are prepared, in the technique used to attach it to your own hair, and in what kind of hair is used. Some systems only differ from materials that are used or just from name. With many techniques some kind of glue or bond is used for attachment, these methods involve coating your own hair with a chemical or foreign substance. Some glues can be harmful for your hair or skin, others are safe. But the main reason for getting hair extensions is to add length to your hair style, although they can be used to thicken your hair or even add highlights.

Hair extensions will not last forever, sometimes because the attachment breaks but mostly because the growth of your own hair. Extensions connected to your hair will get more lose as your hair grows (approximately 0.4" per month). Depending on how fast your hair grows and how well you take care of your extensions they have to be removed or re-tightened when they get too loose.

There are advantages and disadvantages to every method of hair extension available today. There can be a big cost difference between one method and another. There is a direct relationship between time and cost. Most hair extensions are time-intensive, resulting in the major portion of the costs involved. Another major factor is the quality of the human or synthetic hair that is used. Quality hair is expensive. The hair industry is not regulated so determining what or who supplied quality hair can be difficult. Research and education is a primary factor in a successful hair extension service.

Trim Hair Extensions

Hair extensions cost many women both time and money, so to save time and money, trim your hair extensions at home instead of returning to the salon. Following a few tips makes trimming hair extensions possible even for a novice.

  1. Comb tangles out of the hair extensions with a comb or wire brush. Part your hair down the middle of your head into two sections. Bring the two sections forward and hold one side together with a hair clip.
  2. Hold your head straight and comb the side you didn't clip. Firmly hold a section of the hair extensions with one hand and use your other hand to hold the scissors.
  3. Twist the small section of hair in a downward motion and trim the hairs that stick out. Trim the same amount from each section of the extension hair. Switch sides and clip the side you just trimmed and trim the other side of the head.
  4. Bring all hair forward to one side and comb. Trim any longer hair to even the hair out. Comb the hair to the other side and trim any extra long hairs again. Repeat this until you are satisfied with the trim.
  5. Touch up the hairline on the nape of the neck. Shave the hair creating a straight line with a razor or hair clippers. Use mirrors to help you trim the hairline.
Tips and Warning
  1. Make sure all hairs are combed and none hide behind the ears.
  2. Trim less than you want for your final length.
